As the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, I have felt molded by that event in every aspect of my life. I am an artist dedicating my current work to my mother. The stories are hers, as told to me in a first person voice and sometimes in a third person voice. As one of the youngest survivors, she has been on a mission to educate as many people as possible about the horrors of the Holocaust to bring about change. At a time when 38% of Americans believe the Holocaust never happened, it is the duty of those of us who can, to continue to remind the world that those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. If you come away from this exhibit with a message, it is that each person has the responsibility to respect the humanity of every other person with whom they come into contact. If we strive for that, our mission will be fulfilled. - Mina Cohen |
